Sapiens and More! Was influenced by the books Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari and The Gene, by Siddhartha Mukherjee.
The concepts in both these books fused into a cohesive ideation of what humanity is now and how we seem to be slowly lurching forward in the dark. I chose resin as a cohesive medium for this piece to act as a metaphor primarily for curved space in relation to multiverse existence. The semi translucent disc contains within it various pigments, mixed objects, and hangs off a tree limb, conveying the tranisitory and precious nature of existence.
This is a slice of the universe in which we as humanity exist and process. It is not just a human view, but an inclusive view for other species. This goes beyond consideration of other cultures to actually include room for all types of biomass that live on Earth, and leaves room for whatever phenomenon we have yet to discover.
The idea is that all life matters, as we are just another link in evolution, and will certainly not be the Apex species forever. We are but stewards in this journey and space for other beings must exist and flourish. Otherwise, we as a species will have doomed the best versions of ourselves.
